AutoX
An event run on a sealed, grass or gravel surface. These events differ from the Motorkhanas in the way that these events are normally run at a higher speed, so certified helmets and overalls are required to compete. In an Autocross, no straight can exceed 200m when on an unsealed surface, or 100m when on seal.
Whilst typically not as technical in nature as a Motorkhana, they can still be very bust and give a workout to even the most experienced campaigner! Penalties are dished out when cones are knocked or displaced, so a tidy line on the course is a great advantage to stay away from those pesky time penalties!
Minimum Requirements
A safe car to at least Warrant of Fitness standards (especially brakes, steering and seat).
The driver must be a minimum of 12 years old, wear an approved crash helmet and fire retardant overalls (cotton as a minimum)
Opportunities exist to enter a maximum of two basic events (such as an Autocross) prior to gaining membership of a MotorSport NZ member club.
